THE FIRST NITRO FUNNYCAR OUTSIDE OF THE USA TO RUN OVER 300 MPH
5.115 secs @ 305.98 mph 9th April 2007
April Update
Well here we are just over 2 weeks after the Easter Thunderball and people are still talking about the 300mph run! John continues to receive texts, phone calls and emails on a regular basis from around the world – America, Canada, Australia, Scandinavia as well as closer to home. The video taken by a fan from the spectator bank that was put on You Tube has so far received over 1700 hits. There has been coverage in the press, magazines and on several websites. The reaction has just been fantastic, thanks once again to the team, sponsors and fans.
As you will be aware, that car has now been sold and replaced with a Robert Hight 2006 chassis and John Force Racing 2005 Mustang body. Work began on the new car almost immediately after Easter. The body has gone off for painting and John is scheduled to collect it over the May Day Bank holiday weekend. We are presently working on changing over the necessary parts from the old chassis to the new chassis, which is taking longer than first thought as were detailing the new chassis as we go.
The new chassis is coming along nicely. It has the “Brad” block installed and the alignment of driveshaft and rear end has been checked and Ok’d. The rear end itself is massive compared to our last one, it has been cleaned, inspected and filled up with Torco oil. The chassis is fitted with carbon brakes all round, again pads & discs have been checked, the system bled and is ready to go.
Fuel and oil tanks with some of their lines are installed and a start has been made on the fire extinguisher system. All in all we are quite happy with progress at this stage.
The new, updated website www.showtimeracinguk.com was officially launched on Eurodragster this week, having already received nearly 1500 hits prior to the launch. The site is the work of Nigel Holland of www.mantisweb.net and we hope you agree he has done a fantastic job.
We now await the FIA Main Event at Santa Pod May 25th – 28th when the new car will make its debut. Thank you for your support |
